National web forums are aflame with unsparing words for a Garland man convicted in Rockwall County: He’s a “low life” and a “dirt bag” who deserves a beating and will have to live with what he’s done “for the rest of his life.”
The dude didn’t rape or kill, he forced a one pound piece of lead down the throat of a nine pound bass to win a fishing tournament last fall on Lake Ray Hubbard. He’ll serve fifteen days in prison, receive probation, and – natch – have his fishing license revoked. I’m not sure which image will haunt me more the rest of the day – his cramming the weight into the fish’s gullet or his massaging the tummy to, literally, get the lead out. No reason why you should be spared your own mental pictures.
