Two more 817 artists have been selected to play sanctioned showcases at the 2010 SXSW Music Festival in Austin in mid-March, bringing the total number of 817-related artists chosen to play sanctioned showcases this year to four: The first two are Telegraph Canyon (no word yet on the date/time) and Best Fwends, a synth-folk-punk duo that splits time between Fort Worth and Austin. The two new artists are the Fort Worth comedy-metal act Complete and Arlington pianistic singer-songwriter Jessie Frye. Complete, which played last year for the first time and whose “hit” “Hoogie Boogie Land” is a 4:20 classic of sorts, will be at Dirty Dog Bar on 6th Street on Sat., March 20, at 10 p.m., and Frye will be at The Hideout Theatre on Congress Avenue on Thu., March 18, at 8 p.m.

Several 817-related artists are scheduled to play non-sanctioned showcases, including The Orbans, Collin Herring, Fungi Girls, The Frontier Brothers, and members of The Toadies.
