Tryouts for the Dallas Derby Devils, North Texas’ roller derby team, begin tonight (Monday), with subsequent tryouts on Wednesday and Saturday, at Mid-Cities Skateland (1333 S. Beltline Rd. in Irving, 972-790-1610). Tonight’s tryout, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., will involve paperwork and an introduction to roller derby and the Devils team. On Wednesday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., tryer-outers will get to skate and learn the ropes from veteran Devils. Saturday will be a skills test. Prospective Devils must be 18 or older and are required to bring their own mouth guards, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, and helmets. Target and Wal-Mart are recommended retailers for equipment. Skates will be available.
