You know how most of us consider drinking and smoking a “hobby”? Well, there are actually people out there with real hobbies such as yachting, collecting stamps, and dressing up like zombies. From Fri., April 30, until Sun., May 2, at the Sheraton Grand Hotel DFW Airport (4440 W John Carpenter Fwy, Irving), local zombie –– and blood and gore –– festishists and fans will gather for the 5th annual Texas Frightmare Weekend. Headlining guests include Margot Kidder (Amityville Horror, Superman), Sid Haig and Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser IV: Bloodline), and Betsy Palmer (serial murderer Jason Vorhees’ mom from Friday the 13th).
Until then, a slew of horror/schlock-related events will be happening, starting with a live Halloween 2 online auction on Sat., Aug. 29, a day after the Rob Zombie-directed movie opens nationwide. On the block will be more than 500 “bloody” props and costumes.
You must pre-register online to place a bid by either computer or phone. You also, of course, can travel to El Segundo, Calif., to attend the auction live.
