For those of you who missed the first Dinner Roll post, I’ll briefly remind you of the criteria. I’m just trying to shed a little light on local restaurants that are having great deals, special menu items, or just trying something new. I’m trying to keep it mostly mom and pop-y, but I won’t exclude a great deal just because it’s a corporation that’s doling it out. A few items have made their way into my grubby little paws so far this week, in no particular order:
Blue Mesa (1600 S. University Dr. FW 76107 phone: 817-332-6372): is doing tacos-for-a-cause. One dollar from every taco sold goes to a local charity. The chef’s taco of the month for June is corn crusted Thai grouper {tacos} with macadamia nut pico (dinner $10.50, lunch $9.50)
Pop’s Safari (2929 Morton Street FW 76107 phone: 817-877-0916) is offering a buy-one-get-one-free entrée deal on June 12 and 13. And on Mondays and Wednesdays, a different kind of buy one/get one: if you buy a burger, you get one free beer.
Lambert’s (2731 White Settlement Road FW 76107 phone: 817-882-1161) is doing a six-course beer dinner on Tuesday June 9. The “Not Your Average Six Pack” (groan – marketing people shouldn’t name things) dinner of beer-braised chicken will be paired with beers from the Fort’s own Rhar brewery. Chef Lou Lambert will also be teaching a course on preparing picnic food at Central Market (4651 W. Freeway FW 76107 phone 377-9307) on July 14.
Hoffbrau Steaks (1712 S. University Drive FW 76107 phone 817-870-1952, and locations in Arlington and Hurst) is collecting toothbrushes, toothpaste (3oz or less), AA and AAA batteries to send to our overseas troops. If you bring in 3 items during the month of June, you get $5 off with a purchase of two entrees.
In conjunction with the Van Cliburn competition, two area restaurants (that I’m aware of) are offering special menus. The Vault (525 Taylor Street FW 76102 phone: 348-9830) and Bistro Louise (2900 S.
